Our Johnboy
A radiant light that once illuminated our region now continues to shine in the legacy he leaves behind. John Stuart of High Garden, Gaspereau, has passed away, leaving a profound impact on all who knew him. The Board of Directors and Management of the Slow Motion Food Film Fest Society (Devour!) wish to express our heartfelt condolences and deepest respect to his wife, Lucille, his daughters, Terra and Hannah, and their families during this time of transition.
Among John’s many noble endeavours and cherished friendships, his support of the Devour! Food Film Fest and Devour! Studios remained unparalleled. His leadership and unwavering dedication to our mission were truly unmatched; he cons istently led with grace, diligent effort, and by the power of his own example.
To John, his commitment to the Operations Team was more than a role—it was a way of life. He operated with a spirited resolve to “get it done and overcome every roadblock,” ensuring that no challenge was ever insurmountable.
His boundless positivity was one of his greatest gifts, perfectly complemented by a warm and perpetual kindness that touched everyone he met. While John often spoke of living a long life, we find comfort in the immense depth and quality of the years he shared with us.
Good night, Johnboy. Good night, sweet prince. Your spirit remains an enduring part of our community.
John was deeply passionate about Devour! Studios, but especially the futuredeck, because of what it represented—a shared vision between the Town and Devour! to transform Waterfront Park into a large, accessible public gathering space. Gifts made in John’s memory will be held specifically for the completion of this project.
